How Can you Help Maintain Your Unit

Keep Area Around Unit Open

Schedule Regular Preventative Maintenance

Keep Area Around Unit Open

Although units can detract from curb appeal, it's important to keep the space around your unit open and accessible. Having plants or other objects against or around your unit will prevent the unit from running efficiently.

Change Out Your Filter

Keep Area Around Unit Open

A dirty filter can restrict airflow to your unit causing bad air quality, odors, mold, mildew, bacteria and humidity. Be sure to change your filter monthly to insure the comfort and safety of your family, along with the efficiency of your unit.

Absolutely!  We have the knowledge and resources to maintain, repair, and install geothermal systems.  This is a system will save you a lot of money on your monthly utilities when installed correctly.

SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating, which is the amount of cooling the air conditioner and heat pump emits, divided by the amount of energy (watts per hour) in uses.

Cooling / Watt per Hour = SEER

The higher the rating the better the efficiency. If your SEER rating is 13.4 SEER2 you are at the current base level of efficiency.  If your unit is under 13.4 then you may be paying more on your montly utilities than necessary.

Variable speed relates to the type of compressor you have in your air conditioner or heat pump. This effects the capacity at which your unit will run. Variable speed allows your unit to run at a variety of speeds from 30% to 100%, this saves energy, removes moisture and maintains comfort.

Constant torque is when your unit maintains the same amount of power and torque while running. This is true no matter the static pressure or speed at which your unit is running. For example, if your unit is running at a higher speed the torque will stay the same regardless and vice versa if your unit is running low. With constant torque your unit is running at a higher octave than that of a variable speed unit. Variable speed runs consistently between 30% and 120%, while constant torque runs consistently at 150%.

To maintain your unit, it is important to change your filter monthly. Additionally, it's also important to clean your outdoor, condensing unit of debris, dirt and dust. See our Maintenance page for more information.

Many older units are not as efficient or cost effective as the newer units. Just like everything HVAC technology is constantly improving. It's important to stay up to date on equipment efficieny. Give us a call to see how you can improve your HVAC system and save money!
