What does SEER2 mean?

Ultimately it is the measurement of how efficiently a cooling system works over an entire standard season.
SEER2 stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio 2. It is the updated official measurement used across the United States to rate the cooling efficiency of air conditioners and heat pumps.

What is a good SEER2 rating?

The higher the SEER2 rating the better the efficiency, less electricity is being used to operate the air conditioner or heat pump. As of January 1, 2023 the SEER2 rating took affect. 13.4 SEER2 is the current base level of efficiency. If your unit is under 13.4 then you may be paying more on your monthly utilities than necessary. 15-16.9 SEER2 is considered mid efficiency, 17-20 is high efficiency, and premium is 21+.
